Shamrock Shuffle prompts street closures

March 29--The 36th Shamrock Shuffle 8K race kicks off early Sunday morning, and several streets near Grant Park downtown will be closed as runners take to the streets.

The race officially begins at 8:30 a.m. but street closures and no parking zones are already in effect, according to the city and the race's website. Street closures will last until about 11:15 a.m., but roads running through Grant Park will be closed longer. Chicago police will reopen city streets after the final runners make their way through the course, according to the race organizers.

Columbus Drive from Roosevelt Road to Grand Avenue

Grand Avenue from Clumbus Drive to State Street

*

State Street from Grand Avenue to Jackson Boulevard

*

Jackson Boulevard from State Street to LaSalle Street

*

LaSalle Street from Jackson Boulevard to Randolph Street

*

Randolph Street from LaSalle Street to Franklin Street

*

Franklin Street from Randolph Street to Harrison Street

*

Harrison Street from Franklin Street to Michigan Avenue

*

South Michigan Avenue (northbound lanes) from Harrison Street to Roosevelt Road

*

Roosevelt Road (westbound lanes) from Michigan Avenue to Columbus Drive

Lake Shore Drive, Congress Parkway and North Michigan Avenue will remain open.

No parking is allowed along the racing route beginning at 6 a.m., officials said.

The first wave of runners begin at 8:30 a.m. and the second wave will begin at 9:15 a.m., officials said.
