Shamrock Rovers legend Shay Keogh passes away aged 85

Shamrock Rovers legend Shay Keogh has passed away at the age of 85 years-old.

The Dublin club confirmed the passing of the former centre-half and full-back, who enjoyed a fifteen year League of Ireland career.

Keogh spent nine seasons with the Hoops, winning three league titles and two FAI Cups during the 1950's in one of the club's greatest eras.

Keogh went on to enjoy spells with Dundalk, St. Patrick's Athletic and Crumlin club St. Jacob's.

He also earned a Republic of Ireland cap in a friendly against Poland at Dalymount Park back in 1958.

Shamrock Rovers said: "All at Shamrock Rovers F.C. are saddened at the passing of 1950s multiple League and Cup winner Shay Keogh.

"Our deepest condolences go to the Keogh family, Shay's many friends and past teammates."
