Shamrock Rovers duo and Bohemians ace make PFAI Player of the Year shortlist

Champions Shamrock Rovers are double handed on the shortlist for PFAI Player of the Year.

Ireland international Jack Byrne and Cape Verde’s Roberto Lopes have been nominated by their fellow professionals across the league.

And Bohemians ace Danny Grant makes up the three-man panel after playing a significant role in the Gypsies second-placed finish.

Grant is also in the mix for the PFAI Young Player of the Year having been shortlisted alongside Bohs team-mate Dawson Devoy and Rovers’ Brandon Kavanagh.

Kavanagh also makes the cut for the PFAI First Division Player of the Year having been a standout for Shamrock Rovers II.

Drogheda United’s Mark Doyle and Yoyo Mahdy of UCD provide the competition in that category.

Because of the Covid pandemic, the usual PFAI awards bash cannot take place in its traditional format.

But the winners will instead be announced on a live YouTube stream next Wednesday, December 9, from 12.30pm.
