Shamrock Rovers boss Stephen Bradley fully briefed on Anthony Stokes' ongoing court cases

Shamrock Rovers boss Stephen Bradley has revealed he is fully briefed on Anthony Stokes’ ongoing court cases in Scotland.

Stokes trained with the Hoops in the past week and played in the midweek friendly with Cabinteely.

On Friday, a judge sitting in Hamilton issued a warrant for the former Ireland striker’s arrest when he failed to appear at a scheduled court hearing.

The 32-year-old was due for sentencing for bombarding his ex-girlfriend’s father with offensive text messages.

But the ex-Celtic and Hibernian star told his lawyer Michael Gallen that he was undergoing trials with Shamrock Rovers in Dublin and did not return.

Sheriff Allan McKay issued a warrant for his arrest and said he did not think Stokes would come back unless forced to do so by authorities.

Stokes had admitted messaging Eilidh Scott’s dad George despite being under a court order banning him from contacting him.

Stokes pleaded guilty last month to breaching the conditions of a non-harassment order.

“No, I’m well aware of what’s going on behind the scenes,” said Bradley when asked if Friday’s events in court had changed his view of potentially signing Stokes.

“Like I said the other day, Anthony is having a look at us, we’re having a look at Anthony. There’s nothing more than that.”

When asked if he had spoken to Stokes about the legal issues, Bradley added: “Like I said, there’s no issue.

“When I spoke to Anthony, it was about coming in and seeing where both were.

“It’s not something where either has committed to anything. Let’s have a look at each other and see where we are.”
