Shamrock Rovers awarded three penalties in three minutes in dramatic comeback win over Finn Harps

Shamrock Rovers were awarded three penalties in three minutes in a dramatic comeback victory over Finn Harps in the FAI Cup quarter-finals this evening.

Two first-half goals from Barry McNamee and Stephen Folan gave Finn Harps a shock 2-0 lead at the break over the League of Ireland champions.

But three minutes of mayhem in the second half turned the game on its head.

In the 50th minute, Rovers had a penalty when Liam Scales was fouled by Sam Todd, only for Mark McGinley to save Aaron McEneff's spot-kick.

But the ball was only partially cleared after the penalty, and when a Ronan Finn cross was handballed by a Harps defender, the referee pointed to the spot again.

This time McEneff didn't miss to make it 2-1. And remarkably Rovers had the opportunity to draw level when just over a minute later Graham Burke was pulled down after running onto a pass from Jack Byrne.

The responsibility again fell on McEneff and he made it two from three from the penalty spot to level the match.

A shellshocked Harps then saw Rovers go 3-2 ahead in the 71st minute through Burke and that's how a crazy game at Finn Park finished.
