Shamrock Rovers 'ask players to take 25% wage cut during Covid-19 shutdown'

Premier Division leaders Shamrock Rovers have asked their players to take a 25% wage cut during the Covid-19 shutdown, according to reports.

Airtricity League clubs remain hopeful that the season could resume on June 19 but that seems unlikely given the restrictions that are still in place.

Two top flight clubs – Sligo Rovers and Cork City – have laid off their players on a temporary basis.

It is believed the Hoops squad were told yesterday that the club had no choice but to take action.
