Shamrock Rovers and Dundalk potential Europa League opponents narrowed down by UEFA ahead of draw

Shamrock Rovers and Dundalk have found out who they could potentially face in the Europa League second qualifying round ahead of today's draw.

Following their dramatic marathon penalty shootout win over Ilves Tampere last Thursday night, the Hoops could be rewarded with a glamour tie against Italian giants AC Milan.

Stephen Bradley's side could come up against Milan, Lithuania's FK Zalgiris, or Hungarians Fehervar - the side that knocked their fierce rivals Bohemians out of Europe on last Thursday on penalties.

Dundalk are in the champions route after they dropped down from the Champions League qualifiers with a disappointing defeat to NK Celje in Vinny Perth's final game in charge.

New boss Filippo Giovagnoli could face NIFL Premiership champions Linfield, with Finland's KuPS, Malta's Floriana, Slovakia's Slovan Bratislava and Andorra's Inter Escaldes the other potential ties in store for the Lilywhites.

Linfield and Dundalk last met in the Unite the Union Champions Cup last November - with the League of Ireland champions running out 7-1 winners on aggregate.

Mirror Sport will bring you live updates from the draw - which begins at 12pm GMT today. The draw for the third qualifying round will be made tomorrow.

The second round clashes are scheduled for Thursday, September 17 with third qualifying rounds taking place a week later.
