Shamima Begum's dramatic makeover as ISIS bride begs UK for forgiveness

Shamima Begum looked totally different in her first live interview as she begged the UK for forgiveness.

The ISIS bride, who shocked the nation by running away to Syria, unveiled a new look with long hair, a manicure, lipstick and a Nike baseball cap.

The 22-year-old gave an exclusive interview on Good Morning Britain today as she sported western clothes after ditching the hijab she formerly wore in public.

As she chatted from a Syrian refugee camp live on air, she wore jewellery and stroked her long hair repeatedly as she appealed to be let back to the UK.

Explaining her changed appearance, Shamima said she has stopped wearing a hijab for the past year.

She said: "I took it off for myself. I felt very constricted in the hijab. I did not feel myself."

When asked if it was a 'PR exercise' to be allowed to come back, she said: "It's for myself. It's for no one but myself," Shamima replied.

Shamima shocked the nation by running away to join ISIS in Syria when she was 15.

In February 2019, the British government revoked her citizenship and ruled that she would never be allowed to return.

During the live interview, she pleaded to be allowed home and said she regrets every decision she has made since arriving in Syria.

She said she had been groomed as a teen and did not know she was joining a 'death cult.'

"The only crime I have committed was being dumb enough to join ISIS," she told the hosts.

She added: "I was groomed and taken advantage of and manipulated into coming."

"I thought it was an Islamic community that I was joining."

"I was being fed a lot of information on the internet by people in Isis telling me I need to come because I can’t be a good Muslim in the UK."

She told the hosts: "I knew there was war but not in places women and children were living.

"I thought it would be safe for me. I did not know Isis wanted to take over the world.

Shamima said she is 'sorry' for anyone who has been affected by Isis.

"I in no way agree or try to justify what they did.

"It’s not justifiable to kill innocent people in the name of religion. I just want to apologise. I am sorry," she said from north Syria."
