Emmy Rossum has delighted fans with the surprise news that she has welcomed a baby – after spending nine months keeping her pregnancy a close guarded secret.
Taking a leaf from Naomi Campbell’s book of announcing motherhood, 34-year-old Emmy took to social media on Tuesday to declare she had already welcomed a baby girl into her life.
Emmy – who starring in the American version of Shameless as Fiona Gallagher – is the proud mum of a daughter she has welcomed along with 43-year-old husband Sam Esmail.
Emmy shared a photograph of her baby girl’s footprint – as well as a couple of herself posing with her pregnancy bump on full display in a series of artfully captured picture.
She wrote alongside the images: “5.24.21. On a sunny Monday morning, at 8:13AM, we welcomed our daughter into the world.”
The news was met with a wall of congratulations from fans, followers and friends.
Among those sending well wishes was Shameless co-star, Jeremy Allen White, who wrote: “She’s here! Welcome little [Red heart emoji].”

Emmy shared a photograph of herself standing with her bump proudly exposed in a pair of open jeans among the announcement images.
While a second snap showed her in an embrace with her screenwriter and producer husband, Sam.
A further photo shared by Emmy showed her standing on her windowsill with her baby bump illuminated by natural lighting.
She captioned this image: “Two weeks before our daughter was born.”

Celebrity nutritionist Kelly LeVeque gushed over the image, writing: “My favorite surprise to witness. My favorite woman to watch become a mom. Love you and that angel baby!! and Sam too!”
Emmy’s announcement comes just one week after supermodel Naomi Campbell announced she had become a first time mum at the age of 50.
She shared a photo of her hand cupping a tiny pair of feet, writing: “A beautiful little blessing has chosen me to be her mother, So honoured to have this gentle soul in my life there are no words to describe the lifelong bond that I now share with you my angel. There is no greater love.”
