Shameless fly-tipper caught on camera dumping van load of rubbish outside house

This is the moment a shameless fly-tipper was caught on CCTV dumping a vanload of rubbish outside a house in broad daylight. Council chiefs are now investigating in the incident in Crumpsall.

CCTV shows the van, owned by building supply firm Graham - the Plumbing Merchant, reverse along a lane between houses on Hazelbottom Road. A man in a high-viz vest then gets out and dumps a load of cardboard in the street, before jogging back to the cab and driving off.

Off-camera a second pile of cardboard was also tipped at the end of the lane. The incident took place at about 3.30pm on September 5.

The neighbour whose CCTV caught the fly-tipper in action said: "It's disgusting. I came back from work and saw the piles of rubbish where I normally park my car.

"I checked the CCTV and couldn't believe it. I was shocked to be honest.

"As a community we're really upset. We work hard to try keep our area clean, so when you see people like this who just have no respect it's upsetting.

"It's not fair on the people who live here and on the council who have to clean it up."

A Manchester council spokesperson said: "We are aware of an incident of fly-tipping that has taken place recently in Crumpsall and we are investigating the offence further.

"Fly-tipping is not tolerated in Manchester and our teams work hard to shift the waste and prosecute offenders. To add to our own proactive investigations, we ask residents who have any information or evidence to contact us via www.manchester.gov.uk/flytipping, so that we can take action."

Chris Lee, regional director for Graham - the Plumbers' Merchant, said: "Thank you to the Manchester Evening News for bringing this matter to our attention. The employee involved has now been suspended pending further investigation."
