The watching crowd can be heard roaring in horror as the violence spilled out onto the streets.

One eye-witness 'Nunez' told Dublin Live that it put a "dirty drizzle" on an other wise perfect warm night.

He said: "Yeah course. You don't want to see the likes of this happening especially when everyone else was having fun. It's good to be on the beer but if you can't handle yourself while drinking, it's better to be off it then."

Shane Crane and Alan Johns who filmed the incident told Dublin Live that the fight is said to have started over GAA.

They said: "It started off as a harmless chat about football and then next thing bang, it all kicked off. One lad landed a punch from behind and knocked another buck on the ground.

"You wouldn't see the likes of it at Millennium Madness disco."

In a second shocking incident, one man in his 40s was found "semi-conscious" on the ground after receiving slash wounds to his head during an assault at around 6pm.

He is still recovering from his injuries at St. James's Hospital with a garda hunt launched to find the attackers.
