'Shall we stab them?': Sick question asked by gang before launching assault which left three young men with horrific injuries

Three men were approached by a group who said 'Shall we stab them?' before launching a violent attack which left them with horrific injuries.

The victims, aged in their early 20s, were left suffering with head injuries, a bisected tongue and a ruptured gall bladder.

Police were called to reports of an assault at Clayton Vale park, near the arches at the junction of River Park Road and Ten Acres Lane.

The three victims had been approached by a group of around five to eight people.

They demanded the victims move, before one of them shouted 'Shall we stab them?'.

The group then attacked the men and then fled from the scene on foot.

Two of the victims required hospital treatment, while one remains in hospital after suffering a ruptured gall bladder which had to be removed.

Greater Manchester Police have launched an investigation following the assault, which took place on Sunday, June 21, at around 11pm.

No arrests have been made.

The attackers are described as a group of Asian or black males.

One of the group is described as having a 'square shaped head' and 'precisely cut hair'.

Many of them were carrying torches and they spoke with local accents.

It is also believed two women were also present, with one of them being described as mixed race with curly blonde hair.

DC Florence Lowe, of GMP’s City of Manchester district, said: “This was an unprovoked yet brutal attack on three men who were minding their own business. We are committed to identifying those responsible and bringing them to justice.

“The victims were left with serious injuries - two of them required hospital treatment.

"One sustained head injuries, including the loss of five teeth and a bisected tongue, which required 15 stitches. Another sustained abdominal injuries, including a laceration to his liver and a ruptured gall bladder - which has had to be removed, he remains in hospital more than a week later.

“The victims have told us that, shortly before the attack, they spoke to a woman who was walking through Clayton Vale. I ask this woman to contact us – she is not in trouble but we believe she might be able to assist us with our enquiries.

“I would also like to appeal to anyone else with information to contact us or Crimestoppers, anonymously, without delay.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 1146 quoting 3187 of 21/06/20 or the independent charity – Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
