Shakib Al Hasan included in Najmul Shanto-led Bangladesh squad for T20 World Cup

Bangladesh have included the seasoned all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan in their 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup set to take place in the West Indies and the United States this June.

T20 World Cup Schedule

Leading the team will be batsman Najmul Hossain Shanto, who was appointed skipper across all three formats earlier this year, amidst uncertainties surrounding Shakib's availability due to an eye issue.

Shakib, the former captain, marked his return to T20 international cricket after nearly a year-long hiatus during the recent home series against Zimbabwe, where he clinched five wickets in two matches.

Joining the squad is pace bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who showcased promising performances in the 4-1 series victory, along with the return of Shoriful Islam, who was rested for the final two matches.

Bangladesh find themselves placed in Group D of the World Cup alongside Sri Lanka, South Africa, the Netherlands and Nepal for the tournament scheduled from June 1 to June 29.

Their campaign kicks off against Sri Lanka in Dallas on June 7th.

Bangladesh squad: Najmul Hossain Shanto (captain), Taskin Ahmed, Litton Das, Soumya Sarkar, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Shakib Al Hasan, Tawhid Hridoy, Mahmudullah Riyad, Jaker Ali Anik, Tanvir Islam, Shak Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Hasan Sakib
