Shakhtar Donetsk vs Crystal Palace: Prediction, kick-off time, TV, live stream, team news, h2h results, odds

Crystal Palace can take one step closer to qualifying for the Conference League final as they visit Shakhtar Donetsk in the semi-final first-leg.

The Eagles survived a second-leg scare against Fiorentina in the quarter-finals to reach this stage, losing 2-1 in Florence but progressing 4-2 on aggregate.

Their form has dipped since returning from Italy, though, with a draw at home to West Ham and defeat at Anfield leaving Oliver Glasner’s side winless three.

Arda Turan’s Shakhtar, meanwhile, have rather outperformed expectations in this competition, cruising through the league phase and trouncing AZ Alkmaar in the quarter-finals to set up the Palace clash.

With a Ukrainian Premier League title well within reach, Shakhtar are daring to dream of a historic double this season.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Neither Eddie Nketiah nor Evann Guessand are expected to be available. The former has been ruled out for the season with a hamstring injury, while the latter has a knee problem which will leave him sidelined till the latter stages of the campaign.

Tyrick Mitchell, meanwhile, is a doubt with an Achilles injury which saw him hooked early in last weekend’s defeat by Liverpool.

Turan will issue an update on Shakhtar’s fitness whjen he previews the match on Wednesday.

Shakhtar Donetsk vs Crystal Palace prediction

Shakhtar are a no-nonsense team and have impressed against some well put together sides in this tournament, so Palace will certainly have their work cut out for them in Krakow.

Given Thursday’s match is being played on neutral ground, Shakhtar will not have much of a home-field advantage, either, leaving the door open for Palace to secure a positive result.

We expect Palace to take a slim lead into the second-leg, where they can secure their place in the final in front of their home support.
