MUMBAI: Iqbal Shaikh, former assistant commissioner of police (ACP), will take on Sanjay Naik for the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) vice-president's post.
Naik and Shaikh both have filed their nominations for the post and have been deemed eligible to contest after scrutiny by the MCA's election officer JH Saharia.
Naik had raised an objection against Shaikh's candidature on the grounds that his proposer and seconder had withdrawn their signatures by giving letters to that effect, but his objection was rejected by Saharia.
The last date for withdrawal of nominations is December 6. The election for the post of VP will be held on December 9, between 3-6pm, with the result being declared on the same day.
The MCA had conducted its elections on October 20, but the VP's post remained vacant as there were no contesting candidates for it.
Prize ceremony on Jan 6 at BKC
The MCA will hold its annual prize distribution function for all the pending years on January 6, 2023 at its facility in BKC. The MCA also stated recently that it will develop and launch its mobile app at the earliest.
