Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Amir star as Pakistan dismiss New Zealand for just 90

NEW DELHI: Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Amir spearheaded a devastating Pakistan bowling attack, restricting an under-strength New Zealand to a mere 90 runs in their second Twenty20 clash in Rawalpindi.

Opting to bat first, the visitors faced the heat as Shaheen claimed figures of 3-13 and Amir, making a comeback to international cricket after nearly four years, finished with 2-13.

Spinners Abrar Ahmed and Shadab Khan added to the onslaught, each picking up two wickets as New Zealand collapsed to their second-lowest total against Pakistan in T20 cricket.

Despite brief contributions from Mark Chapman, Cole McConchie, Dean Foxcroft, and Tim Seifert, the Kiwis struggled to muster any substantial partnerships.

The match marked a dominant display by Pakistan ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup. Hindered by the absence of key players due to IPL commitments, unavailability, and injuries, New Zealand faced an uphill battle against a formidable Pakistani side.
