Shah Rukh Khan opens up about choosing Bollywood career: "I studied to be a scientist... became an actor"

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, also known as the Badshah of Bollywood, revealed today that he would have had a very different career far away from the film industry.

The actor, who has gained superstardom around the globe, attended a summit in Dubai, where he shared his unconventional journey to becoming an actor. During the candid discussion, Khan revealed how a series of unexpected events led him from the world of academics to the silver screen.

"I studied to be a scientist," Khan shared, reflecting on his early ambitions. "I went on to become an economist and then learned mass communication," he said. Opening up about the start of his film career, he shared, "Television had just come to India, and they were paying me Rs 1,500, which was a lot of money at the time."

He then continued to reveal the pivotal moment that helped him decide his career path. Khan recalled, "One day, I was driving home on my three-wheel scooter and stopped near two women. They saw me and started screaming. Seeing their happiness, I said (to myself)— 'This is what I need to do. I need to make people happy'. So, I became an actor."

During the discussion, the actor also opened up about his superstar image and how he has to 'work hard' to build that image. He shared, "I am very clear that I work hard for the image. I work for the myth that Shah Rukh Khan is."

On the work front, SRK is currently busy working on his next film 'King' that will see him starring alongside daughter Suhana Khan a actor Abhishek Bachchan.
