Shah Rukh Khan jets out of the city with Gauri Khan and Suhana Khan as Jawan creates history with Rs 1103 crore box office collection

In a momentous feat for Indian cinema, Shah Rukh Khan's blockbuster movie 'Jawan' has achieved an extraordinary milestone, becoming the first Hindi film ever to cross the historic Rs 1100 crore mark at the box office.

Production house Red Chillies, in an official announcement on their social media handle, revealed that the SRK starrer earned an estimated Rs 1103 crore at the worldwide box office. Sharing a new poster, the makers wrote, "The first Hindi film in the history of Indian cinema to cross 1100 Cr GBOC worldwide."

The post was shared with the caption, "Jawan Making & breaking box office records every day!"

News of the film's new box office milestone came as ETimes shutterbugs got exclusive photos of the superstar jetting out of the city with his family. Shah Rukh was spotted arriving at the Kalina airport with his wife Gauri Khan and daughter Suhana Khan. All dressed in denims and tees, the Khan family didn't stop for photos as they headed into the airport to board their flight. Suhana will soon be making her debut with Zoya Akhtar's Archies where she will be sharing screen space with Amitabh Bachchan's grandson Agastya Nanda and Sridevi's daughter Khushi Kapoor.

Commending SRK for his historic run at the box office, actor Akshay Kumar said that the success of films like "Jawan" and "Gadar 2" was good for the film industry. "I hope the industry gives more and more hits. I was very happy when Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan' did so much business. There are many other films like 'Gadar 2', 'OMG 2', which also did well. So, it's very good for the industry," Akshay told PTI.

He added, "It's a great thing that Rs 1,000 crore is a benchmark. I also hope that we make Rs 2000-3000 crore films. Then we can also make Hollywood (kind of) films. The kind of cinema, the screenplay, the script that we have they don't have (it)."

The Hindi film industry was severely impacted by the COVID pandemic as theatres were shut and even after the opening of the cinemas the box office collections were affected until early this year.
