Shaftesbury Square attack appeal after man left with serious head injuries

Police are investigating a Belfast attack in which a man suffered serious head injuries.

The 31-year-old is reported to have been assaulted by three unknown males in the Shaftesbury Square area.

Officers are asking anyone who was in the area around 2.30am on Saturday, August 24 to come forward.

A PSNI spokesperson asked on Facebook: "Were you in the Shaftesbury Square area of Belfast on Saturday 24th August at around 02.30?

"Police are appealing for information following an assault where the victim has sustained serious injuries."

They told Belfast Live: "A 31-year-old man suffered head injuries following an assault by three unknown males in the Shaftesbury Square area at around 2.20am on August 24.

"He was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries which are not believed to be life threatening."
