Shades of Swiss style

In the first rainy week of spring, Omega brought a burst of vibrant colours to London for the "Aqua Terra Shades" event.

Last November the Swiss watchmaker hosted a black-tie celebration, with guest of honour Daniel Craig, to mark 60 years of James Bond in the UK's capital.

This time round, there was no secret venue. Guests knew exactly where to head on the evening of March 22 but had no clue of the surprises in store at Somerset House's Embankment Galleries.

"London is a city of so many different shades -- a place where history combines with modern art, and where a multitude of different ideas, fashions and cultures mix. For Omega, it's the perfect location to celebrate our Aqua Terra Shades collection," said president and CEO Raynald Aeschlimann.

Through a transition of nine colours such as Atlantic Blue, Shell Pink, Lavender and Terracotta splashed across the venue, guests explored the Aqua Terra Shades collection.

In addition, art installations, performances, light and sound not to mention candies delivered a multisensorial experience.

"The Aqua Terra is a member of the Seamaster -- Omega's most structured and comprehensive line. Through the vibrant new watches, we welcome you into our world of colours," said Aeschlimann.

Launched in 2002, the Aqua Terra family pays tribute to Omega's maritime heritage, which has been a part of the brand since the release of its first dive watch in 1932.

Today, the Aqua Terra is known for its laid-back style, anti-magnetic legacy and precision backed by the guarantee of Co-Axial Master Chronometer certification.

The Latin name expresses the watches' reliability both on water (Aqua) and land (Terra). Likewise, the palette of the Aqua Terra Shades collection follows a spectrum from ocean to earth.

The dials of the 34mm Aqua Terra models are dressed in Sea Blue, Lagoon Green, Sandstone, Shell Pink and Lavender that shimmer against the entirely polished stainless steel cases.

The 38mm versions charm with the dial in Atlantic Blue, Bay Green, Sandstone, Saffron or Terracotta.

In addition, the soothing Lagoon Green has been assigned to the 34mm version in 18K Moonshine Gold while the subtle Sandstone appears on the 38mm diamond-set variation in 18K Sedna Gold.

The new timepieces render self expression and the "Every Shade Of You" campaign celebrates the unique personality of each wearer.

The theme comes to life through Zoë Kravitz, Zhou Dongyu and Eddie Redmayne who appear in a series of visuals and film clips. Revealing different facets of their character, they are dressed in black and surrounded by a multitude of colours -- yet again highlighting the Aqua Terra's selection of vivid dials.

Wearing their fave from the new collection, Omega's three brand ambassadors graced the London event.

"Eddie, Zoë and Zhou are the perfect stars for this campaign. Their creative spirits, adaptable talents and varied lifestyles are a great match for this versatile collection. We hope it will inspire customers to really think about the colours they would love to wear themselves," said Aeschlimann.

With his sophisticated style, Redmayne is a long-standing Omega ambassador since 2015. In the same year, he won the Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his portrayal of Prof Stephen Hawking in The Theory Of Everything.

"The evolution of the Aqua Terra is really quite impressive. Omega is always very forward-thinking with its designs and the Aqua Terra Shades models take the range in a playful new direction. They allow you to be distinct and show your own particular style," said the English actor, who also starred in the Fantastic Beasts films, The Danish Girl and The Good Nurse.

Kravitz earned high praise for her performances in the Fantastic Beasts films, the Divergent series, as well as the hit HBO show Big Little Lies. The American actress also stole the show as Catwoman in The Batman.

"For me, watches are the ideal accessory to maximise your style. Each of these Aqua Terra Shades models has its own distinctive character, so I really feel like you can use them to play with your look. Omega always delivers when it comes to choice," said Kravitz, who along with Zhou joined the brand in 2022.

The Chinese actress is known for her critically acclaimed performances in genres ranging from crime thriller to romantic comedy.

"It's been exciting to try on all the different timepieces. Each of these Aqua Terra watches have their own personality, which makes the styling playful," said Zhou, who wore the Sedna Gold model at the star-studded event.

Other celebrities included English actors Theo James, Nicholas Galitzine and Olivia Cooke, Thai actor Jirayu Tangsrisuk, Miss Universe 2014 Paulina Vega Dieppa, French influencer Léna Mahfouf, and Japanese model and actress Kiko Mizuhara to name a few.
