- Sir Keir Starmer is facing calls for his resignation from at least four cabinet members, including Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, ahead of tomorrow's crucial weekly meeting, The Independent understands.
- This follows health minister Stephen Kinnock’s suggestion that more of Sir Keir's cabinet "may well" tell him to resign during Tuesday's talks.
- The internal dissent adds to wider pressure, with over 70 MPs publicly urging the prime minister to resign or set a departure timetable. Four ministerial aides have also quit after a poor local election performance.
- Appearing on Newsnight, Mr Kinnock suggested Sir Keir may be asked to step down.
- He said: "It is clear for everybody to see that a lot of people are either coming out and calling for Keir to resign or whatever it might be, and it is possible that members of the Cabinet might do that."
