South Gloucestershire and Stroud College has been recognised in the Government’s national school and college performance measures for adding value to their learners' achievements by helping them to progress further in their A levels studies.
SGS College returned an above average aggregated value added score meaning that learners studying A levels at SGS made more progress from their GCSE grades than other learners studying similar subjects across South Gloucestershire and England.

Progress for each learner is measured between the end of key stage four (GCSE) and the end of key stage five (GCE A level) and then compared with the actual progress made by students nationally who had similar levels of attainment at key stage four.
Learners are compared with others studying the same qualifications nationally before being aggregated to give an overall score for a school or college.
The national average for all schools and colleges is 0. Therefore, a score above 0 means learners make more progress, on average, than learners across England who got similar results at the end of key stage 4; conversely a score below 0 means that learners, on average, made less progress.
