SGPC objects to hoisting of tricolor atop gurdwara building in Indore

AMRITSAR: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has objected to hoisting the tricolor at Gurdwara Imli Sahib in Indore.

A photograph of Gurdwara Imli Sahib with a tricolor atop its roof went viral on social media platforms during the beginning of "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign following which SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami not only condemned incident but also marked an inquiry.

Dhami Tweeted: "It came to my notice through social media that tricolour has been hoisted at historical Gurdwara Imli Sahib, Indore, MP, and I strongly condemn this act. In this historical Gurdwara Sahib associated with Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, only Khalsa nishan Sahib can be hoisted."

He further said that as per Sikh Rehat Maryada (Sikh code of religious conduct), gurdwara management or administration, whoever committed this mistake is responsible for this incident immediately and further actions will be taken against whoever is found guilty.

Meanwhile, Sikh body Dal Khalsa observed August 13 as "Azaadi Sankalp Divas" (Independence Determination Day) at the party office by hoisting Khalsa flag.
