SFA issue update on Covid protocols as governing body 'seek clarity' on Scottish Government approach

The SFA have issued an update in the wake of Scotland's new five-tier lockdown system being unveiled.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon outlined the details in a speech delivered to the Scottish Parliament on Tuesday, and Scottish football's governing body have responded in a series of messages on Twitter.

Under Tiers 0 and 1, outdoor seated events with limited numbers are permitted. Scottish football authorities are hopeful that this will allow some fans to return to stadia.

The SFA said: "We are currently working with the Scottish Government (@scotgov) and Sport Scotland (@sportscotland) to seek clarity on how the latest COVID-19 approach will affect football. This includes how the new Tier approach will impact on Scottish clubs and players at all levels of our game.

"We will aim to provide further information and guidance in the coming days. For the avoidance of doubt, the current protocols should remain in place until further guidance has been communicated.

"We again thank everyone in the Scottish football community for their support in these difficult times."

Record Sport revealed on Tuesday night that Scottish football bosses are hopeful small crowds could be permitted inside certain stadia on November 6.

It's understood Aberdeen and Ross County set to be given official clearance to open their doors to around 300 supporters for the respective visits of Hibs and Livingston.
