SFA invited to Scottish Government summit as closed door fixtures key to talks on resuming football

The Scottish Government has invited key governing bodies for talks on a phased return for sport.

The SFA and SRU will be among those present next week with the possibility of closed door matches expected to be on the agenda.

Record Sport revealed on Monday how Scottish football bosses were awaiting communication from Holyrood on plans to set up a dialogue with key stakeholders.

All football in Scotland - including group training sessions - remains on hold until June 10 at the earliest, a date which could feasibly be pushed back if safety criteria are not met.

Although the lower league season has already been declared over with the Premiership set to follow suit, the tentative talks could light the way for SPFL clubs to begin preparing for next season.

It comes after we told how UK Government discussions on restarting included only the Premier League and English Football League.

Clubs in England are set to begin a phased, tightly controlled return to training, with Arsenal the first to implement a system at their London Colney base.

All top-flight teams are working under a protocol known as "Project Restart" which could signal a similar move to come in Scotland.

Sessions are expected to be closely monitored, with players arriving on a rotational basis to complete individual sessions.
