A major international streaming service has taken over more locations in Liverpool as shooting continues on an upcoming drama series.
Over the course of the year, crews from Sexy Beast have been spotted at locations across the city as they film the Paramount+ series, with Liverpool doubling as East London in the 1990s. The drama follows the lives of small-time thieves who get mixed up in the London criminal world and the cast includes James McArdle (Mare of Easttown) and Emun Elliott (The Rig).
Sarah Greene (Normal People), Stephen Moyer (True Blood) and Tamsin Greig (Friday Night Dinner) will also be heading to the city to film. The eight-part series has been written, and will be directed, by showrunner Michael Caleo, one of the lead writers on the iconic HBO series The Sopranos.

Crews were out this afternoon at Fulwood Park, Aigburth. Signs were put up along a leafy lined area of the park to act as Kensington Palace Road.
It is understood the crews were shooting scenes which involve recreating a tree-lined avenue, on which an embassy is situated. Among the new locations for the drama series, a prequel to the 2000 film of the same name, is Liverpool Town Hall.
The iconic building was being fitted out with props on Wednesday and this evening for a day of filming on Friday. Last month, star James McArdle was spotted on set at The Cross Keys on Earle Street in his role as Gal Dove. The Scottish actor has a huge filmography including roles in Star Wars, Mare of Easttown and Mary Queen of Scots.
The pub off Old Hall Street was transformed into "The Golden Eagle" for the production between Tuesday, November 8 and Wednesday 9. The prequel series, which is being co-produced by Chapter One and Paramount, became the first long term-tenant of the city’s specialist pop-up studios earlier this year.
Crews are based out of the two 20,000 square feet studios complete with sound stages off Edge Lane, known as the Depot, for a seven-month period. It is expected the series will be available to stream next year.
