'Sexual services' and 'amorous behaviour' among reasons for lockdown fines last night

People trying to get 'sexual services' and 'engaging in amorous behaviour' were among those fined for breaking coronavirus regulations last night.

Merseyside Police reported a number of incidents that happened on Saturday, January 16, as people were found to be out for non-essential journeys.

Among those stopped and fined by police included a couple fined for ‘engaging in amorous behaviour at Crosby Marina’ and someone driving in an 'anti-social' manner trying to get ‘sexual services’.

They said: "A couple have been fined for engaging in amorous behaviour at Crosby Marina. Not a reasonable excuse under the Covid regulations."

Officers added: "Driving your car in an antisocial manner after having just been observed trying to obtain sexual services has earned one person a S.59 warning and a COVID fine. Definitely not an essential journey."

Some people were also fined for meeting with other households for a drive.

In one instance, police tweeted: "Couple of friends out for a late night drive. Visiting Otterspool promenade from the Wirral.

“You know what happens next by now - COVID fines issued. This virus is indiscriminate and deadly. Please stay at home."

And in another case they said: "Going for a takeaway with a friend from another household is not permitted. Both issued Covid fines by TS40.

"For those of you who don't get this, I suspect you never will."

In another tweet, officers posted two images side by side which compared a busy area of parked cars with an empty area.

It said: "Everton view-as nice as the view is, you can’t be there to relax ,eat ,drive ,to see the view, meet mates or any of the other excuses laid on tonight.

"Area cleared with COVID warnings issued. Essential travel only or risk a fine.

"Photos show what it was like and what it should be like."

Merseyside police added that a 'good proportion' of their covid enforcement is also against drug dealers and burglars.
