Sexual harassment case: UP women's panel vice chairperson Sushma Singh pulls up police officer

MEERUT: UP State Women Commission vice chairperson Sushma Singh on Wednesday strongly pulled up a police officer for his alleged insensitivity towards sexual harassment of a woman at the hands of her own husband and father-in-law.

"Don't you have any daughters at home? How can you be so insensitive? Can't you see these chats? These are the rates for hiring women and you are not doing anything about it?" she can be heard in a video of the meeting that has gone viral.

Singh was on a two-day visit to Meerut on Wednesday.

The victim, a woman, had come with her complaint to her in which she had alleged that her husband and father in-law ran a hotel in Mawana region of Meerut where prostitution racket was being run by the two of them.

The woman told Singh that five months back her father in-law had tried to rape her and a police complaint was also filed in Mawana police station five months ago.

After listening to the entire complaint, Singh got angry at the investigation officer and ordered an inquiry against him and also directed the police to arrest the accused husband and father in-law.
