Sexual assault charges against Conor McGregor dropped in Corsica

Charges of sexual assault and indecent exposure made against Conor McGregor in Corsica have been dropped because of a lack of evidence.

Bastia prosecutor Arnaud Viornery told AFP: "We had no material evidence to corroborate the complainant's statements, including after the scientific expert input that had been ordered."

McGregor's lawyer, Emmanuelle Ramond, commented: "We welcome this decision because it is in line with what we expected."

The accusations were made against McGregor when he was on French island last September.

He was set to take part in a charity 180km water-bike relay race from Calvi to Monaco with the Princess of Monaco, but never did.

The Dubliner "vigorously denied any accusation of bad behaviour".

The UFC star will face Dustin Poirier for a third time this summer after signing a deal on Wednesday.

McGregor suffered a shock loss to the American in a rematch of their 2014 bout in January.

The pair will clash at the T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on July 10 in front of 20,000 spectators.

Announcing the bout, UFC President Dana White said: “I am so happy to finally be able to say that Vegas is back. This summer Las Vegas is open for business and on July 10 UFC 264 will be at the T-Mobile Arena at 100 per cent capacity at 20,000 fans.

“This fight will be headlined by the third fight between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor.”

McGregor is currently in Dubai with his fiancee Dee Devlin and their two children.
