Critics have leaped on to an online advert for a trampoline, which states only men can put it together.
The Newan 48-inch mini bouncer is being sold on Amazon and the sales description states: "This fitness rebounder has a relatively simple installation process, but the elastic rope part can be tricky.
"Not advised for child or woman to install alone, additional assistance from men is preferred."
Hopping mad shoppers branded the ad 'sexist' and posted a tirade of angry comments on the retail site's Q&A section.
One angry customer wrote: "And why can’t a woman install this alone? Could this company be any more sexist?"
Another post also criticised the choice of wording. It said: "Why do you recommend that it is not advisable for a woman to be installed alone, additional assistance from men is preferred”?
Newan responded: "This trampoline can be a bit tricky when installing elastic cord parts, it needs some strength.
"Although we have a matching tool, it is best to wear gloves when installing the elastic rope, so we recommend men first. If the lady can also install it, it will be even more perfect.
Another posted: "Are these instructions serious? Not intended for women to assemble alone? Assistance from a man needed? It’s 2019, get lost with your misogynistic nonsense."
Angry shoppers also took to social media to jump on to the controversery. Katherine Powderly tweeted: "Hey @amazon nice listing #everydaysexism".
But Newan hit back, replying: "This is not the case. Because installing the elastic rope is more laborious, so we recommend that men install the trampoline first. If the woman can install it, it is more perfect.’
Amazon has been approached for comment. However, the item now appears to be unavailable on Amazon's UK site, although it is still for sale in the USA.
