A sex tape belonging to a sports star has been leaked online and police have been called in to investigate.
The athlete is said to be “extremely distressed” after historic images of her with a previous partner appeared last week online.
The eight minutes of footage was said to have been shot when she was just 18
Detectives were called in after her phone was hacked and the footage shared on social media, reports The Mirror .
Twitter, Google and other sites have been asked to remove mention of the clips.
A source told the Daily Record : “This has left her on the edge. Police are investigating and it’s an extremely delicate one.
“She had no idea she still had the video saved. She wrongly believed she had deleted it. It was a long time ago.”

Legislation classes so-called revenge porn – where a former partner posts explicit material without consent – as a crime.
But leading charities claim situations where hackers are responsible should also be considered for investigation with the same force of the law.

Will Gardner, boss of Childnet and the director of the Safer Internet Centre, said: “I’d class this as a case of revenge porn. That’s just a term given to the non-consensual sharing of explicit videos like this.
“A lot of the time our young people are having to tackle emerging problems like this without a template of how to deal with it.
“Our advice is for young people to have a spring clean of their internet presence every so often. Not just for things like future employers who will see what digital footprint they have but for situations like this.”

A spokesman for the police force probing the leak involving the Scottish star said: “We’re investigating a report of the disclosure of private sexual images.
“The victim is being fully supported by officers.”
