Sex Education fans have only just realised Mr Groff's real sons are in the show

Sex Education season three has just dropped on Netflix, and fans are just discovering that the twins are related to the actor who plays Mr Groff in real life.

Cal and Brodie Petrie, 18, feature in the hit comedy series as pupils at Moordale Secondary School, the school at which their dad, 50-year-old actor Alistair Petrie, is best known as the former angry headteacher, Michael Groff.

The pair also have an older brother, Angus, who was born in June 2000, and their mum, Lucy Scott is an actress.

Fans will be able to spot the twins in the infamous poo on the coach scene.

In episode five, the students visit France on a school trip to learn about trench welfare in World War One.

Everything was going well until Rahim blocked the coach toilet on the way home, and in a desperate attempt to clear it, filled his sock with the waste and dashed it out of the window, where it ended up hitting the windscreen of a passing car.

It's here that the twins were seen smirking as Mr Hendricks realises the mysterious brown smudge on the poor drivers' car is poo.

Fans have been losing their mind after a TikTok video of the revelation went viral.

The on-screen caption said: "THE HOT TWINS IN SEX ED ARE MR GROFF'S KIDS IN REAL LIFE."

Her video has since racked up 3.2 million views and more than 387,000 likes from shocked superfans.

One person commented: "WAIT I THINK I KNOW WHO YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT."

Another said: "I IMMEDIATELY KNEW WHAT TWINS YOU MEANT."

Someone else claimed they'd spotted them in the scene when Hope, Moordale's new headteacher, was announcing the new uniforms.

But others were hung up on the similarities Alistair has with his on-screen son Adam, played by Connor Swindells, as one viewer added: "I refuse to believe Adam and Mr Groff aren't related IRL they're identical."

Alistair recently took to Twitter to debunk the myth, after one fan expressed how the characters were "so excellently played" and that "they ACT like father and son."

He responded: "Hi...we’re not but I feel like we are. He’s a truly great talent and I’m so enormously proud of him - as I would about my own sons. Thanks for loving the show. Very best wishes.”

Netflix has now confirmed that Sex Education will return for a fourth season, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
