Sex attacker who pounced on woman spared jail

A sex attacker who was described as being like a "dog in heat" as he pounced on a woman has avoided jail.

Konrad Wojcik, 22, struck in the early hours near a block of flats in Glasgow's Whiteinch in June 2017.

A witness described being shocked when she saw Wojcik on top of his 25 year-old victim.

Wojcik denied a charge of sexual assault during a trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court in October.

But, the first offender was found guilty and was put on a community payback order for 12 months.

Wojcik was ordered by Sheriff Ian Fleming to do 150 hours of unpaid work and was put under the supervision of a social worker.

He was also put on the sex offenders register.

A woman who spotted the pair initially thought they were a couple.

But,  witness Caroline McCormack added: "I had a quick look and the man was on top of her. She was on the ground. I felt concerned.

“It was quite disturbing like a dog in heat.”

The witness alerted police before going to help the woman.

Wojcik, now of Gwent, Wales,  was later found nearby.
