A teenage girl was pushed to the ground and sexually assaulted in a shocking attack near a Scots park.
The 15-year-old was walking alone along Leuchatsbeath Drive next to the public park in Cowdenbeath in Fife when she was approached by a man.
She was pushed to the ground near some bushes and attacked but managed to free herself and ran off.
The incident happened at about 8.45pm on Thursday night, with the girl left "extremely upset" by what happened.
Detectives in Cowdenbeath are investigating the horrific attack, and have released a description of the alleged attacker.
The man is described as being between 30 and 40-years-old old, of a heavy build and about 5ft 6ins tall.
He is possibly of Asian appearance and was wearing dark coloured jogging bottoms, a dark coloured short-sleeved t-short and a face covering.
Detective Inspector Kelly McEwan appealed for witnesses who may have been in the park at the time to come forward.
She said: “Fortunately this girl was not seriously injured but she has been left extremely upset by what has happened and our enquiries to find the person responsible are ongoing.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who saw anything suspicious in this part of the park that evening, both before and after the time it happened. If you were walking your dog, jogging or driving nearby, please think back and let us know if you can help with our enquiries.
“Anyone who can assist with our investigation is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 4166 of Wednesday, 4 August, 2021, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
