Police hunting a hooded predator after a sex attack in East Dunbartonshire took to the streets in a bid to find the suspect.
Officers patrolled the canal path in Kirkintilloch on Friday night, one week after a young woman was sexually assaulted there.
We told how the victim, aged 20, was walking along the path, leading from the town's Hillhead Road to Canal Street on Friday, April 30 when a man approached her.
Between 11pm and 11.20pm he spoke to the woman before grabbing her and sexually assaulting her.
On Friday cops revisited the scene and spoke to a number of locals as part of their probe into the attack.
Officers were in the area between 9pm and midnight.
The suspect is described as white with a Glaswegian accent and short, brown or dark hair.
He is five foot, nine inches tall, beleived to be in his twenties or thirties and of a slim build.
At the time of the incident he was wearing a dark-coloured hoodie with the hood up and joggers.
Police stressed that anyone with information should come forward.
Detective Inspector Iain Nelson said: “Officers have been conducting a significant amount of enquiry in the area this past week and we continue to ask for the public’s help as part of our investigation.
“Anyone who may have seen suspicious behaviour in the area late last Friday night, or who has any information which could be relevant, is urged to come forward.
“This was a very distressing incident for the woman and we understand the concern this has caused to the local community.
"High visibility patrols remain in place in the local area and anyone with concerns or information can also speak to these officers.
"Please call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 4427 of April 30, or pass information anonymously onto the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
