Sex and the City is said to be coming back – but without one of its lead stars.
According to reports, the hit HBO series, which ran for six seasons, is being lined up for a limited series revival that will air exclusively on the premium channel’s streaming service.
The news comes 16 years after the original show came to an end, and 10 years since the release of Sex and the City 2.
However, while three of the show’s original stars, including Sarah Jessica Parker are said to be returning, it’s now being claimed by Page Six that Kim Cattrall won’t be a part of the new episodes.
According to the outlet, the show “will return” for new episodes with Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis.
Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones, has been sceptical of a TV reboot since the spin-off films were released in 2008 and 2010.
Parker, though, has been very enthusiastic about the “revisit”, telling Entertainment Tonight in 2019: “I’d like to see where all of them are. I’m curious, the world has changed even since the movie… technology and social media.
"Add to that sexual politics and the #MeToo movement and Time’s Up… I think Carrie Bradshaw would just be so greedy to share her feelings and thoughts.”
Parker and Cattrall have been embroiled in a feud for many years. In 2018, Cattrall lashed out at her former co-star for getting in touch following the untimely death of her brother, Chris.
She called it “a painful reminder of how cruel [she] really [was]” during their time on the show, adding: “I don't need your love or support at this tragic time @sarahjessicaparker.”
She capped it with a link to a New York Post article detailing the dissolution of their friendship written in October 2017.
Parker has continually denied rumours of negative feelings towards Cattrall.
