Sex and the City stars cause chaos in New York as fans flood streets to spot cast

It was mayhem in Manhattan over the weekend as Sex and the City fans flocked to see the new spin-off series being filmed.

Hundreds of fans gathered in New York’s Times Square to catch a glimpse of Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda in action.

The actors were shooting scenes for the HBO reboot of Sex and the City, which is called And Just Like That... - named after one of main character Carrie’s famous sayings.

There is no confirmed air date yet for the new series, but filming began in the Big Apple in early July.

Stars of the show have been sharing preview photos and clips on social media to tease fans ever since.

One of the latest photos to emerge from the set showed Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays writer Carrie Bradshaw, flanked by her co-stars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis, who play characters Miranda Hobbes and Charlotte York.

The trio looked super fashionable as they walked down a New York city street – and none of the actors appeared to have aged much since the last time they were in the show.

There have been two Sex and the City films since the TV series ended in 2004.

At that time Carrie and the gang were aged in their late thirties. And Just Like That... is set to follow Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte as they “navigate the reality of life and friendship in their 50s”.

Sex and the City characters already confirmed to be in the new show include Chris Noth, who plays Carrie’s infamous husband Mr Big - but according to leaked scripts the couple may not have gone the distance.

Another of Carrie’s former flings, Aidan, portrayed by actor John Corbett is set to return for at least three episodes.

In a bid to reflect life in New York in 2021, producers are introducing the show’s first non-binary character, Che Diaz, who is played by Grey’s Anatomy’s Sara Ramírez.

One character who sadly won’t be returning to our screens is Samantha Jones, after Kim Cattrall confirmed she would not be part of the new show.

Kim and Sarah Jessica Parker are said to have had a big falling out, but the exact details of their feud have never been revealed.

Posting on Instagram, Sarah said: “Samantha isn’t part of this story. But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do.”
