Sex And The City star Kim Cattrall announces death of her beloved mum

Kim Cattrall has shared a heartfelt tribute to her beloved mother Shane Cattrall who has died aged 93.

The Sex And The City actress, 66, posted a series of throwback pictures with her mum on Instagram. In the caption, Kim wrote: "Shane Cattrall 1929 - 2022. Rest in peace Mum."

The post included a sweet black-and-white snap of the pair from Kim's childhood.

Another picture showed the mother-daughter duo standing side-by-side as Kim received an honorary degree in her home city of Liverpool.

Kim's famous friends offered their condolences in the comments.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Lisa Gilroy wrote: "She’s beautiful so sorry Kim."

Kim's Queer as Folk co-star Stephen Dunn said: "Sending all my love," while comedian Alan Carr commented: "Sorry darling. Sending you lots of love."

"Oh Kim. My heart goes out to you. Mums are the best," penned TV presenter Christine Simpson.

Shane celebrated her 93rd birthday back in February, with Kim posting a picture of the pair on social media to mark the occassion.

Alongside the family snap, she wrote: "Happy 93rd Birthday Mum! You’ve seen it all and we’re lucky to still have you with us."

Shane's death comes just four years after the tragic loss of Kim's brother, Chris Cattrall.

Chris was found dead by police at the age of 55 in 2018.

Less than 24 hours before he was found dead, Kim had taken to social media to ask her fans for help in searching for her missing brother.

In her post, she said he had left his keys, phone and wallet on the table of his home, leaving his front door unlocked. Kim said it was "not like Chris" as she urged people to help.

Chris' body was found at his property in Blackfalds, Alberta.

Kim then took to Twitter to update her followers with the sad news. She wrote: "It is with great sadness that myself and my family announce the unexpected passing of our son and brother."

She added: "At this time we ask for privacy.

"We want to thank you all on social media for your outpouring of love and support in this trying time."
