Sex and the City reunion panned as "pointless" by raging Lorraine Kelly over 'missing' star

Lorraine Kelly has dubbed the much talked about Sex and the City reunion "pointless" after news that one of the show's biggest stars won't be involved.

Overnight into Monday, news came in from America that the much loved TV series, which was huge hit across the globe at the turn of the millennium, will be returning to screens with one big difference - larger than life character Samantha Jones, played by actress Kim Cattrall isn't returning.

Kim's absence follows continued speculation about a serious rift between her and co-star Sarah Jessica-Parker, which Kim sparked after a telling comment on an Instagram post a few years ago.

The new series will air on HBO Max in the States and comprise of 10 half-hour episodes.

But, while news of more Sex and the City has been lapped up by fans of all things Carrie Bradshaw and co, TV host Lorraine panned it on her show on Monday morning.

Speaking to Hollywood correspondent Ross King, she said: "I actually don't see the point in this as they haven't got the best character!

"What's the point?!"

Raging Lorraine Kelly slams 'pointless' Sex and the City reunion (ITV)

Ross replied: "We rejoice in some kind of reunion but it is not the full reunion.

"It is definitely happening but of course the women will now be in their 50s, so it is going to be interesting to see where they go with the show

"I always thought Samantha gave it the comedy."

A still far from convinced Lorraine responded: "I just think there's no point after the Sex and the City 2 movie, which was one of the worst films I've had the misfortune to see.

"Just leave it, leave it leave it!

"Personally I don't see the point, I'll just watch the old episodes."
