Seville Place stabbing sees man, 30s, rushed to Mater Hospital with injuries

A garda investigation has been launched and a man in his 30s has been hospitalised following a stabbing incident in the north inner city.

The incident happened at around 4.30pm this evening when the man was stabbed on Seville Place.

He was rushed to the Mater Hospital where his injuries have been described as non life-threatening.

A garda spokeswoman told Dublin Live: "Gardaí in Store Street attended a stabbing incident in Seville Place, Dublin 1 this evening at approximately 4.30p.m. Thursday 28th January, 2021.

"A man (30s) received stab wounds and was taken to The Mater Hospital for treatment. His injuries are described as non-life threatening.

"Investigations ongoing."

Local councillor Nial Ring called the incident the latest in a "dark, dark few days" for the inner city.

It follows the death of 16-year-old Josh Dunne, who died after being stabbed during a row on Tuesday night at East Wall.

Another teenager remained in hospital last night with injuries.

Councillor Ring said: "[It's been a] dark dark few days for the inner city community who cannot understand this knife culture, and of course a terrible time for Josh's family and friends.

"It has to be tackled now before it gets out of control and speaking with the Gardai just now, they want all stakeholders to work together to address and eliminate this problem."
