Four Sevilla players have apologised after breaking lockdown regulations at a poolside party this weekend.

Ever Banega posted a picture on his Instagram of the gathering, in which he is seen with team-mates Luca Ocampos, Franco Vazquez and Luuk de Jong, along with their respective partners and several others.

In total, there are 12 people present, which exceeds the limit of 10 permitted by the Spanish government in Phase 1 of the four-step de-escalation plan for a return to a 'new normality' after more than two months of shutdown due to coronavirus.

All four players have now issued apologies on their respective Instagram accounts and Sevilla posted a tweet featuring the words of each on Sunday evening.

"I want to say sorry and to recognise that we made a mistake, which is detrimental to the image of the club," Ocampos wrote. "I want to apologise to the club, to my team-mates, the coaching staff and society in general."

Banega, who quickly deleted the original images from his Instragam, said: "It was a get-together for family and team-mates, but it wasn't correct. It won't happen again."

The four could now be hit with fines and LaLiga may be forced to change their plans for the competition's restart next month, with one possibility to keep players and staff all together at one location in the days leading up to games.
