Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly not in contact with Sevilla over the potential signing of Jules Kounde despite reports of a bid for the French defender.
Previous reports from Gianluca di Marzio suggested that an 'agreement' had been reached over the signing of the centre-back.
Spurs’ offer for Kounde was reportedly in the region of €30million (£25.5m), as well as current defender Davinson Sanchez.
Meanwhile, it was suggested that Kounde himself was “thinking” about the offer amid suggestions that he could leave Sevilla this summer, Spurs and north London rivals Chelsea emerging as potential destinations.
However, that appears now not to be the case.
According to Estadio Deportivo, the Spanish outfit have apparently indicated that there has been “zero contacts” with Tottenham over a potential deal for Kounde.
The news will be a major blow to Spurs as they continue their search for a centre-back.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s current defensive options include the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier, Joe Rodon, Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga.
However, reports from Mail Online have suggested that Belgian international Alderweireld could depart this summer with just one year remaining on his current contract in north London.
The 32-year-old has previously admitted that he could potentially return to former club Ajax.
Speaking in 2019, he said: "I don't want to make too popular statements, but it is certainly 100 per cent in my head.
"I have had wonderful times here with three championships, but also lows. But my family was happy here [at Ajax] too."
With uncertainty at centre-back, Spurs remain linked with a number of options that includes Kounde, former Fulham loanee Joachim Andersen and Turkish international Ozan Kabak.
