Sevilla may have dropped the biggest clue that Jules Kounde is set to become a Chelsea player having held talks with Davinson Sanchez.
It was reported a few weeks ago that the Colombian could have been included in a deal to take Kounde to Spurs. However, Thomas Tuchel’s men appear to have moved up the pecking order for a move, with reports previously suggesting that the Frenchman had agreed personal terms on a switch to Stamford Bridge.
Sevilla could also have a replacement in mind already with Sanchez’s agent Néstor Villarreal confirming that a switch to Andalusia could be in the pipeline for the former Ajax centre-back.
Speaking with Caracol Radio, he said: “They are just rumours.
“Yes, I have spoken to the people of Sevilla, but at the moment, they have a full squad.
“If a transfer happens on their part, those rumours could be true, but concretely there is nothing, only talks.”
It remains to be seen whether talks are revived should Kounde make a move to Stamford Bridge, but the prospect of Sanchez moving to the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan could potentially alter the terms being offered by Chelsea.
It was originally reported that the Blues had offered centre-back Kurt Zouma in part-exchange for the defender.
However, with Sevilla in discussions over the signing of Sanchez, it could therefore see Zouma either stay at Stamford Bridge or remain in the Premier League.
The former Saint-Etienne man has already been linked with the likes of Spurs and West Ham United so far this summer.
Should it be decided that he not move to Sevilla, either by the Spanish club or indeed the player, that could therefore see Chelsea pay Kounde’s reported £68million release clause outright.
