Severn Trent fixing damaged sewer pipe after hole appears in the road

A road in Rise Park has been closed after a sewer pipe was damaged.

Bewcastle Road was closed on Thursday after a hole appeared in the road.

Via East Midlands were the first to investigate the road. A spokesman said that an inspector was sent out because of a "hole that appeared in the road."

Severn Trent said they are working to fix a damaged sewer pipe.

A spokesman said: We’re really sorry to customers living and working around Bewcastle Road.

"Unfortunately, we’ve had to close the road temporarily,  to investigate reports of potential damage to a sewer pipe.

"We appreciate this will inconvenience the local community, but we’re working as hard as we can to minimise disruption, by getting the job done as fast as we can.”

Buses cannot serve stops on the road so a diversion is in place.

Nottingham City Transport said: "Bewcastle Road is closed near Oakwood Academy. Turquoise 79 and Purple 88 Buses are diverted along the full length of Muirfield Road."

It is not known when the work will be completed.
