Severn Trent customers in Wollaton still being told to boil tap water

Residents in a part of Nottingham are still being told to boil their tap water before using it over fears about its quality.

Severn Trent Water said some customers within the NG8 postcode in Wollaton should boil their water before using it "as a precaution".

The issue was first reported on October 3 and work has been underway to clean pipes and take samples.

The water company says it has hand-delivered an official notice to everyone affected and that residents have been kept up to date with text messages.

If a customer hasn’t had an official boil notice card then they are not affected.

A Severn Trent spokesperson said: “We’re still advising our customers in the Wollaton area to boil their water before using it, just as a precaution while we resolve the issue, and we’ve been in contact with everyone affected to keep them updated on progress.

"We’ve spent the weekend flushing and cleaning all of the pipes, and we’ve now taken more samples.

"We know how inconvenient it is for our customers right now, and we can only apologise, but water quality and the health of our customers is our absolute priority.

"Once we have samples that show the water quality is back to it’s great normal standard, we will of course let everyone know.

"We would like to remind people to make sure we have their up to date contact details so that we can keep them informed in incidents like this."
