Severn Bridge M4 closures at night expected to cause delays

Both Severn bridges will be hit be lane closures due to maintenance work for the next two nights.

The eastbound M4 on the Prince of Wales Bridge , heading in the direction of Bristol, and westbound M48 on the original Severn crossing will be shut from 7pm this evening (Wednesday October 16) until 6am tomorrow.

There will also be a similar shutdown tomorrow evening  (Thursday October 17) lasting until the same time on Friday morning.

Highway officers are warning motorists to allow extra time for their journeys as diversions will be set up on both routes throughout the works.

Drivers heading into Wales will be directed to the Prince of Wales Bridge, while motorists travelling in the opposite direction will have to use the M48.

The M48 westbound towards J2 Chepstow is being closed for anti-skid works, while M4 eastbound from J23 Magor is undergoing survey, drainage and general maintenance works.
