Severe winds ground Glory in NZ, cause postponement

Perth Glory will have to wait a couple more days before officially collecting the A-League Men wooden spoon after adverse weather conditions led to the postponement of their game against Wellington Phoenix.

Glory, who are already in New Zealand following last week's 1-0 loss to Auckland, were scheduled to finish their season from hell against the Phoenix at Sky Stadium in Wellington on Friday night.

But that game will now take place on Sunday evening after Glory were unable to fly from Auckland to Wellington on Thursday.

Numerous flights have been grounded due to extreme winds in the lower North Island, leaving Glory stranded in Auckland.

Glory are already guaranteed a second straight wooden spoon after posting three wins, five draws and 17 losses from their 25 games this season.

Perth have scored a league-low 20 goals this season, and they have conceded a league-worst 56 goals.

Despite the club's worst ever ALM campaign, first-year coach David Zdrilic has been backed in by owner Ross Pelligra to continue on next season.
