Severe weather alert issued by Dublin local authority with flooding expected

A Dublin local authority has issued a flood warning to residents and motorists in coastal areas.

Fingal County Council has sent out an alert on its social channels and through text message, warning that coastal areas will experience "further flooding" at high-tide, shortly after midday today.

The warning reads: "Risk of further coastal flooding along coastal areas as a result of high tides today at 12.14pm following on from heavy rainfall overnight."

Parts of the north county are already unpassable after heavy rain last night and this morning, with roads in Baldoyle, Portmarnock, Malahide and Balbriggan worst affected.

A reader also sent in images that show extensive flooding on the train line between Skerries and Rush.
