Many Canberrans may be spending their first day out of lockdown inside, with the Bureau of Meteorology predicting possible severe thunderstorms for Thursday and Friday.
There is an almost 100 per cent chance of showers forecasted for Thursday, October 14.
A cold front will move through NSW on Wednesday afternoon, with the possibility of severe thunderstorms in both Canberra and Sydney on Thursday, BOM meteorologist David Wilke said.
Rain and possible storms are mostly likely to occur in early morning and late afternoon.
Winds will be north to northeasterly at 20 to 30 kilometres per hour, and northwesterly at 15 to 25 kilometres per hour in the late afternoon.
The weather on Friday, October 15 is forecast to be cloudy with a very high chance of showers and the possibility of thunderstorms.
Light winds will be blowing northwesterly at up to 30 kilometres per hour in the morning.
Hazards may include damaging winds, heavy rain, and large hail and flash flooding is possible in some locations.
Conditions are expected to begin easing after Thursday, but there's still the possibility of thunderstorms on Friday.
In good news for territorians, the rain is expected to ease over the weekend.
