The threat of severe thunderstorms over south-east Queensland has passed for now, however they could redeveloped later in the day, the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) says.
Earlier today a severe weather warning from the BOM said areas between the Sunshine Coast, north of Brisbane, and Coolangatta on the border, were at risk from damaging winds and large hailstones.
The warning has since been cancelled, however BOM says storms could redevelop later this afternoon, particularly inland.
During the storm a wind gust of 81kph was recorded at Beaudesert.
A more general warning issued by BOM says thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones for much of the afternoon.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours.
Locations which may be affected include Warwick, Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Brisbane, Dalby, Ipswich, Stanthorpe, Caboolture and Goondiwindi.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services has advised:
- Beware of fallen trees and powerlines
- Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it
